"Even your beard got shredded" - Fans surprised by Josh Emmett's "impressive" physique change after impromptu three-day water fast

Fans reacted to UFC featherweight Josh Emmett showcasing the physical transformation he endured following a three-day water fast. In the first half of 2023, Emmett endured a rough patch in his fighting career by suffering consecutive losses for the first time. Luckily for him, he bounced back in December of last year with an unforgettable firstround knockout win at UFC 296 that left Bryce Mitchell seizing in the Octagon.

At 39 years old, Emmett is running out of time to accomplish his dream of becoming a UFC champion. Therefore, the hard-hitting featherweight has been searching for new ways to evolve as a fighter, including a three-day water fast.

Following the tough challenge, the No.7-ranked featherweight posted photos of his physique transformation on Twitter with the following caption:

"3 Day Water Fast!"

Fans took to the comments section and reacted to Emmett's progress:

"Impressive discipline, fasting is great for mental and physical health"
"Sup bro been a minute! Even your beard got shredded"
"why'd the chest tat get darker every day"
"Looks like it all left the gut and went to the head."

What's next for Josh Emmett under the UFC banner?

Josh Emmett's latest win against Bryce Mitchell was a massive statement to the UFC featherweight division. Although he didn't sustain much damage at UFC 296, Emmett has talked about wanting to take his time to recover from any lingering injuries before returning to the octagon and continuing building momentum.

Emmett will likely fight before the end of 2024. Although it's unconfirmed by the UFC, several potential opponents for the 39-yearold are Aljamain Sterling, Movsar Evloev, Diego Lopes, and Lerone Murphy.

It should be noted that most of the UFC featherweight top-15 aren't booked for a fight, so there are various potential matchups.

In the meantime, UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria is expected to keep the division moving by defending his throne in the near future. 'El Matador' is rumored to be fighting Max Holloway, who is coming off a legendary knockout win against Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. Watch Emmett's highlight-reel knockout against Mitchell below:
